“If not for This… Than I Would Never Have…That”

One recent If-not-then event, I heard a very loud helicopter below the horizon. I looked in the direction of the noise, couldn’t see the helicopter. But I did see a blob of white in the tree line. I got the binoculars out to see what that blob of white was. I speculated that it was a plastic bag drifted in on the wind… instead I was treated to a Bald Eagle. If not for the loud helicopter noise..I would never have seen the majestic bird…

Today I looked at the step counter on the phone 1982 — I sighed, well that year sucked. I need to add steps to my day. The internal dialogue cranks up, “I really don’t want to go out to the orchard..I really should.. at least I’ll break 2000 if I go..I’m too tired, too distracted, to over-whelmed…GOOOO..okay okay…” I harness up the dog..who is thrilled..grab the plastic zip lock bag for the rose petals, and the one for the blue berries, and one for the green beans and a generic bag for the whatever else might be out there to harvest. We round the corner of the house ..the dog and I..and what do I see? The garden gate wide open… panic. Is there anything left? Who might be in there? What might be in there? The dog and I take a walk around the outside of the 50 X 80 ft…
