Excellent snacks for diabetics

Several months ago my blood glucose lab reports came back 440 with an A1c of 13. This is very bad news. Turns out I’m among the unfortunate 46% who get flipped into full blown diabetes by the Covid-19 virus.

Okay this may have contributed to my problem as well: I’d been binging on potato chips as a way to wean myself from french fries.

Everything in my diet had to change, especially snacks.

Step one: I cut potatoes and all their beloved products out of my life. Goodbye hashed, mashed, and baked I will miss you all!

Step two: Research WTF can I snack on?

After a great deal of You Tube, Google and medical journal research, turns out, nuts are considered a healthy snack for diabetics. In particular, walnuts and almonds are highly recommended.

A recent study published in Circulation Research found a lower risk of heart disease and death in people with Type 2 diabetes who ate nuts.
