My Attempt to be Heard by Medium CEO and Staff

Given my current analytics, I won’t hit the Friends of Medium (FoM) breakeven mark of $12.50 cents for January, or ever with the new payout plan — or more accurately non-payout plan.

Medium has “tweaked” its algorithm, according to Scott Lamb . The reason stated is a purge of spammers and low-quality writing.

Low-quality writing was defined as people with few reads and little engagement.

Big problem with that assumption — I’ve read many high-quality pieces that had very little engagement. With the current ‘tweaks,’ even my boosted (considered high-quality) article got very little traction.

I tried to find information on what is happening with Medium with no real success. The few articles I found suggested leaving the FoM program.

I decided that was a good idea, I won’t leave altogether but if I’m only getting half a cent to zero payouts I need to go back to the $4.17 breakeven mark of the basic annual plan.

I discovered when I opened the Manage Plan section I was unable to de-select FoM. It made me wonder if I’d already…
